Guided tours for groups

Join us for an exciting day at the IKEA Museum and put Democratic Design into practise. Learn about the five principles of Democratic Design: form, function, quality, sustainability and a low price whilst collaborating with each other. How do you want to develop the concept?

Small space living

The home is the starting point for meeting everyday life. In this activity we create a functional home for a “family” (the composition of families are all different which shows that we are all different) in a limited space of only 20m². The purpose is to understand the different needs and functions required to make the everyday work. 
The activity takes about two hours.

A night at the museum

A night at the museum is a full evening’s entertainment and enjoyment for groups of 50 to 150 people. You and your group have the premises to yourself. Your experience includes a welcome drink and guided introduction to the museum, the opportunity to explore our exhibitions and the museum shop, plus a buffet featuring an array of seasonal specialities. There’s also the option of pre-ordering gifts for your party.

  • Your evening starts any time you choose from 18.15 onwards and extends until 23.00 at the latest
  • The exhibitions and museum shop remain open for your guests until 20.00

A typical Night at the museum programme includes:

The buffet is composed of delicious seasonal specialities. Still and sparkling table water, tea/coffee and dessert are included in the price of the buffet. An aperitif, beer and wine are available at additional cost.

Other information

Music and entertainment: Restaurant Köket is equipped with an audio-video system for music and microphone presentations and has two projectors. Use of the audio-video equipment is included in the cost of your A night at the museum experience.

Pre-ordered gifts: We will be happy to help you select gifts for your party. Choose from the museum’s standard gift range, or contact us to discuss any special wishes you may have.

Morning Meeting

Book the IKEA Museum for your morning meeting and start the day in a way that is sure to inspire colleagues and co-workers. Your group can enjoy breakfast together before moving to the Auditorium. Here there are seats for up to 70 people, a large screen, projector and a high-quality sound system. Among the optional extras open to you is a guided tour through the exhibition, exclusively for your group.

A typical Morning Meeting includes

  • Welcome at the meeting point under the colonnade outside the IKEA Museum
  • Breakfast served in our Klassrummet creative centre
  • Meeting in the Auditorium
  • Optional extra: pre-book a guided tour to take place at 10 o’clock immediately after your morning agenda

Start the day with a tasty sandwich, a delicious bowl of yoghurt and granola, or a combination of both. Water, tea and coffee is included. Juice is available at additional cost.

Restaurant Köket

Book Restaurant Köket for a party or corporate event. We cater for groups of 50–150 people, adapting the pleasant, spacious restaurant premises to your specific needs and wishes. Choose one of our standard menus or contact us to discuss any special requests. You can also arrange for the use of microphones and projectors, and we will be happy to help with background music.

Get to know IKEA and Älmhult

A comprehensive programme for large groups and visitors with their own transport. The package includes a guided tour through Älmhult, lunch in the IKEA Museum restaurant, a guided tour of the museum and afternoon refreshments.

Our guide will meet your group outside the IKEA Museum at 12.00 for an interesting coach tour through Älmhult. This gives the guide the opportunity to inform participants about IKEA and Ingvar Kamprad, and share a few glimpses into our fascinating local history. Lunch is served back at the IKEA Museum restaurant at 13.00, and followed by a guided tour of the museum. There is also time afterwards to explore the exhibitions at your own pace and browse at leisure through the unique range of gifts and souvenirs in the museum shop. The day is then rounded off with refreshments, served in the museum restaurant at around 15.30.


SEK 345/person, including VAT.

The price includes:

  • Guided tour of Älmhult in the group’s own coach.
  • Lunch in the IKEA Museum restaurant.
  • Reserved tables and table-service of pre-booked meatball menu. Water included.
  • Admission to the IKEA Museum and a guided tour of the exhibitions.
  • Afternoon coffee and cakes/biscuits at reserved tables in the IKEA Museum restaurant.

The programme lasts approximately 4 hours (12.00–16.00) and is designed for groups of 20–55 people.

Insider tip

If your group arrives in Älmhult before midday, we recommend a visit to the IKEA store and the IKEA Fyndvaruhuset bargain warehouse at the Älmhult Outlet Village. The IKEA Fyndvaruhuset is the only one of its kind anywhere in the world. The store restaurant serves breakfast and brunch between 9.30 and 11.00.
